Store migration

Store migration to Upgates. Data first, design second, no lost revenue.

From Shoptet, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Shopify or a custom build. We move the data first: products with variants and parameters, customers and order history. Only when they are right do we work on design. Every old link is permanently redirected, the old store keeps selling until the switch and we are on the phone for 14 days after launch. We have migrated stores with monthly revenue in the hundreds of thousands of euros.

Who it is for

  • Our platform is holding us back

We want a second country, B2B or a connected warehouse, and on our current platform we would be setting up a new store or paying for every change.

  • We are afraid of losing rankings and data in the move

Links shared for years, customer accounts, order history. We do not want to start from zero and we do not want sales to stop.

  • Our custom store is technical debt

Every change is a meeting and an invoice, dependence on one developer grows and the store does not.

How we work

Why data comes first

A migration succeeds or gets stuck on the data. So we first pull everything out of the old store, set up products, variants and stock, and the design team works with real data, not a sample.

How redirects work

When the new store goes live, every old link is permanently redirected to the new one. Including the one you have shared on Facebook for years. Google recalculates and your rankings stay. We set redirects during import, for products, variants and categories.

Customers will recognise the new store

No visual revolution. We build a store that looks like your company and can be updated without switching off the Designer, so platform updates go through without us.

A price that does not rise after signing

On complex projects that join several systems, we first run a paid data analysis and only then fix the implementation price. Migration clients get half a year of the Upgates fee free.

New customers grow you, repeat purchases pay you

Migration is not just a data transfer. It is the moment your customer history lands in a system where you can use it: newsletter, loyalty programme, campaigns run by margin.

What moves and what does not

Moves

  • Products, variants and parameters
  • Descriptions, images and categories
  • Customers and their accounts
  • Order history
  • Old URLs, each with a redirect

With a caveat

  • Order history tied to accounts: depends on the quality of the source platform's API, we tell you in advance what moves automatically

Does not move

  • Customer passwords: the encryption differs, customers reset once
  • Product reviews: most platforms do not expose them via API, with a small number we move them by hand

What you get

Migration

From Shoptet, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Shopify or a custom build — with order history and a redirect for every old URL.

  • Data first: export of products, customers and orders, design after
  • Products with variants and parameters, customer accounts and order history
  • 301 redirect for every old URL — nothing ends on a 404
  • The old online store keeps selling until the second of the switch
  • 20–30 working days, 14 days of support after launch

Warehouse, invoicing and logistics

An order goes from basket to delivery without a manual touch — warehouse, accounting and carriers connected via API.

  • ERP and warehouse: Pohoda, Money S4 and others; a custom connector where no plug-in exists
  • Dispatch via Chameleon: every carrier from one place, shipment statuses every two hours, barcode-checked picking
  • Pack4You fulfilment — we use it on our own online store
  • Carriers: Packeta, GLS, DPD, SPS, Slovak Post
  • Invoices directly in Upgates, export to accounting (ISDOC, Money, Pohoda)

How it works

  1. 011 wk

    Audit

We go through the online store, data, warehouse and margins. For complex systems, a data analysis comes first — without it we would be guessing the price.

  2. 021–2 wk

    Proposal

A quote with every item listed: the CORE package plus only the add-ons you actually need.

  3. 033–6 wk

    Build

Online store, carriers, payments, warehouse and invoicing. Previews along the way, no surprise at the end.

  4. 041–2 wk

    Migration

Data transfer, redirects, testing. The old online store keeps selling until the second of the switch.

  5. 051 wk

    Launch

DNS switch, indexing check, measurement. We are on the phone for fourteen days.

  6. 06∞

    Growth

Campaigns, marketplaces, retention and the profit report. This is where the investment starts coming back.

Case study

A florist that has grown every year since the migration.

We migrated the store from Shoptet to Upgates, wired same-day delivery into the process and have run its Google and Meta campaigns and newsletter ever since. A year after migration revenue grew 59%, average order value 46% and organic traffic 27%. It keeps growing — this year it is heading for €400,000 from the online store alone.

FAQ

How much does a migration to Upgates cost?

The price depends on the number of products and variants, language versions, B2B price lists and integrations with warehouse, invoicing and carriers. So we do not guess it: on the first call we go through the scope and you get an itemised quote — the CORE package plus only the add-ons you actually need. For complex systems we run a data analysis first and the price is binding after it.

How long does a migration take?

Typically 20 to 30 working days from approving the quote to the switch. The old store keeps selling until the second DNS is switched, so there is no revenue gap. After launch we are on the phone for 14 days.

Will I lose Google rankings during migration?

Not if the migration is done right. Every old URL gets a 301 redirect to its new equivalent, meta descriptions and category structure are carried over, and after the switch we monitor indexing in Search Console. For Rozvoz kvetov organic traffic grew 27% in the year after migration.

Will the store be down during migration?

With one store, no; the old one sells until the switch. With several stores on one warehouse we stop them all together at the final switch for a short, pre-agreed moment so stock levels do not drift. It is the only downtime and it takes minutes, not days.

Do you migrate product reviews too?

Most platforms do not expose reviews through their API, so not automatically. With a small number we move them by hand. We say this up front so it does not surprise you mid-project.

What happens to customer accounts?

Accounts, contacts and order history move. Passwords do not, because every platform encrypts them differently. Customers reset their password once after the switch; most do not even notice.

Which platforms do you migrate from?

Shoptet, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Shopify and custom-built stores. We carry over products with variants and parameters, customer accounts and order history.

Do you migrate from WooCommerce, the most used platform?

Yes, it is one of our most common migrations. Most used is not the same as best suited to a growing store. With WooCommerce we tell you in advance what part of order history moves automatically; it depends on the quality of its API.

Shoptet or Upgates?

Upgates includes all features and add-ons in every plan, handles multiple languages and satellite stores from one admin, has B2B price lists and a Designer for design without coding. Shoptet is simpler to start with and has a larger add-on ecosystem. For a growing store heading into more countries or B2B we recommend Upgates — a detailed comparison of prices and features is in our Shoptet vs Upgates article.
